Health Minister Chris Fearne said that two cases of the Covid-19 variant, Omicron, have been detected in Malta.
In a press conference on Thursday morning he warned that the number of Omicron cases was expected to rise while urging everyone to get the booster vaccine, saying this was effective against Omicron.
Minister Fearne also said that as from the 17 January, bars, snack bars, rests, gyms, pools and spas, band clubs, cinemas, theatres and sporting events will only be accessible to people with a valid vaccine certificate. A further measure will see visiting hours at Mater Dei Hospital restricted.
