The Ministry of the Interior, National Security and Law Enforcement has been awarded by the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly for its work on behalf of the victims, especially in the fight against domestic violence.
During a ceremony in Rome organized by the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly, the Ministry of Interior, National Security and Law Enforcement, represented by Minister Byron Camilleri, was rewarded by the same assembly for its work. carried out by the Maltese Government to assist victims of domestic violence.
For the award, the Assembly took into account all the measures taken by the Maltese Government including the establishment of a specialized section in the Police Force to combat domestic violence and gender-based violence. , the introduction of the silent reporting concept on the 112MT app as well as the establishment of the Victim Support Agency whose aim is to provide assistance to victims of crime at the most vulnerable moment of their lives. Therefore, this work has been recognized internationally as Malta has won the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly Award for the year 2021.
