As of 2017, about 17 new cancer drugs have become available for free.
During this legislature, more new top-tier cancer drugs began to be introduced on the Government formulary. About 17 medicines have already been introduced so far and over 500 patients a year are benefiting from these medicines.
The treatment, Pembrolizumab, was certified by the European Medicines Authority (EMA) to be used for triple-negative breast cancer on 19 October. The Ministry of Health immediately began the process to include this treatment for this type of cancer.
