A completely renovated community clinic was inaugurated in the St. Lucia locality on Friday afternoon, which through an investment from NDSF funds, will be offering five primary care services to the 3,000 residents of St. Lucia.
During the inauguration, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Chris Fearne reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing patients with basic health services, such as those that will be offered in this the clinic, ie the service of the family doctor, nurse, podiatrist, spoken language pathology and physiotherapy, are provided in the communities themselves. He reminded that this is the fifteenth new or renovated aubergine that is being inaugurated and meant that the works of Primary Healthcare will continue in other localities in the coming months.
Parliamentary Secretary for Citizenship and Communities Alex Muscat said the NDSF is investing € 10 million to renovate or open these aubergines for the first time. He said this is not an isolated investment in the health sector. In fact, an investment of € 1.5 million has just been announced for a CT Scanner in San Vincenzo de Paul. Another example is the € 8 million investment in a new palliative care center run by Hospice Malta.
“This is the social soul of this government,” said the parliamentary secretary. “We will continue to strive to attract foreign direct investment to our country, which investment we are investing in the community,” said Alex Muscat.
