In a speech by Prime Minister Robert Abela, he stressed the importance of holding elections in this country and that the results of these same elections be respected. He reiterated that this should be a process led by the Libyan people because only then will the people feel their own and the implementation would be effective.
At the same time, said the Prime Minister, the international community, in particular neighboring countries such as Malta, play a crucial role in the peace process and the development of the country and reiterated that this assistance should be continued in the future.
While praising the efforts made so far to increase stability and security in Libya, he urged the Libyan authorities to further uphold the values of the international community and unite financial and economic institutions in order to make a transparent distribution. and equity of Libyan public resources and services.
National reconciliation and the reunification of institutions will be the foundation on which Libya will build its future, the Prime Minister said.
The Prime Minister thanked French President Emmanuel Macron for taking the initiative to organize the meeting and reiterated that the results of this conference should help boost the democratic transition in Libya.
Meanwhile, on Thursday the Prime Minister attended the official opening ceremony of the Paris Peace Forum which was addressed by US Vice President Kamala Harris and French President Emanuel Macron.
During the forum, the Prime Minister met with the Executive President of the Paris Peace Forum Pascal Lamy, where they discussed the aims of the forum along with the main themes of this edition of the forum.
