The 2022 Budget will be a record one for the sports sector, so much so that investment in the sector and in athletes will increase from € 12 million to € 20 million, an increase of around € 8 million.
This was stated by the Parliamentary Secretary for Sport, Recreation and Voluntary Organizations Clifton Grima during a news conference in which the sports projects were listed.
The parliamentary secretary mentioned that in the last twelve months SportMalta has worked to further improve the infrastructure such as the handball pavilion, Olympic level indoor pool, basketball pavilion, Sirens swimming pool and restoration of the 1903 building in Marsa. A number of government lands have been transferred to more sports associations to develop their buildings.
He explained that in 2022 SportMalta will continue to invest in more sports facilities. At the Marsa Complex work will continue on two new complexes, one dedicated to gymnastics and another to the sport of squash and weightlifting.
