Football can be a funny old game.
Birkirkara, second in the BOV Premiership and two goals up in the first half against Sirens, they looked to be cruising to three points that would put them level with leaders Hibernians.
Two first half goals from Luke Montebello looked to have set up B’Kara for a comfortable second 45 minutes against Sirens.
But the game was turned on its head in the second half as Sirens launched a blitz attack against B’kara.
Victor Vieira fired home soon after the restart and with twenty minutes remaining Fernando Brandan put Sirens level from the penalty spot after Cain Attard brought Kemar Reid down inside the area.
Yet more drama followed. Within minutes Reid fired Sirens in front after Fernandes failed to hold his first shot, the Jamaican making no mistake with his second touch.
With the clock ticking Sirens then had Kemmu Degran Jackson sent off after picking up a second yellow card and then Kemar Reid also saw red for a second offence.
For B’Kara, the chance to go level at the top squandered. And for Sirens, a thrilling victory that sees them climb to third in the table.
