In the Budget for the year 2022, the Ministry for Inclusion and Quality of Life is allocating more than € 59 million, of which more than € 50 million are dedicated to the disability sector. This means that compared to 2021, the allocation for the disability sector will be increasing by more than € 8 million. This is the strongest budget we have ever had for the disability sector.
This was stated by the Minister for Inclusion and Quality of Life Julia Farrugia Portelli during a press conference during which she mentioned various initiatives that will be funded by next year’s Budget.
Among others, Minister Farrugia Portelli mentioned the increase of € 5 in the allowance for children with disabilities. With this initiative, with an investment of half a million euros it is expected to benefit from it with 1,700 families and will lead to the allowance now rising to € 1,560 per year, almost double from the year 2013.
In addition, an increase in the grant for a carer of people with disabilities will be provided. This increase will be € 300 and will now rise to € 500. 450 parents will benefit from this grant alone.
