Finance and Labor Minister Clyde Caruana attended the fifth and final public consultation in preparation for the 2022 Budget with the theme, ‘What country would you like to leave to your children?’
During the event at the Cottonera Sports Complex in Cospicua, the public was encouraged to bring their suggestions to the next budget. Several points were raised for discussion including banks, cost of living, stipends for people wishing to resume their studies and work in other jobs and help for businesses to switch to more environmentally friendly means.
Minister Caruana answered these questions from the public as well as those who came in through social media. In his address he explained what is causing inflation around the world and explained how this burden that people face as the cost of living, a new mechanism is needed to help those low-income families.
A number of points were also made on the environment and Minister Caruana said, “A message that I will be sure to convey on Monday is that we must take the first step so that we can start addressing the environment around us. As the theme of these pre-Budget consultations is how we want to leave the country to our children, and the dream is always to leave a better place than we found it, in this budget we will make the a first step by many to have a better environment ”.
