During a consultation meeting in the Auberge de Castille with the Chamber of Small and Medium-sized Businesses, Prime Minister Robert Abela stressed that the government is looking forward to more investment in the country that will bring more work for workers and business opportunities.
Among the points discussed at this meeting was access to and support for businesses from the financial system. On this, the Prime Minister said that the government is open to discussing how this challenge can be addressed through schemes run by the government and other government entities.
A challenge facing businesses, which the Prime Minister spoke about, is the shortage of workers for the new careers that are being created. The Prime Minister said that he understands that this could be a concern for businesses, so it is time to work together on a new policy on the field of employment. He called for an open discussion on how to move forward in this regard.
He urged business representatives to contribute to the changes our country needs to make in terms of decarbonisation. “This is a step we must take together and I believe that as a union you have a very important role to play in this area,” said the Prime Minister.
President of the Small and Medium Business Chamber Paul Abela said that while our country has overcome the challenges of the pandemic, even through government aid, we now need to address new challenges for the business sector to continue to recover. and contributes to the economy of our country.
Present for this meeting were the Minister for Finance and Labor Clyde Caruana and the Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Sustainable Development Miriam Dalli.
