Valletta recovered from a goal down to beat reigning premier champions Hamrun 2-1 in their opening game of the new season.
Darko Gojkovic headed Hamrun in front just before half time but City bounced back with two goals by Mario Fontanello to clinch the win for Valletta.
In the weekend’s other matches, Floriana and Sta Lucia ended in a 2-all draw, B’kara hit 3 past Mosta and Sirens beat Gudja Utd 1-0.
