The Malta Football Association and the Public Broadcasting Services on Friday extended their partnership by signing an agreement for the next three seasons until 2024, which includes the broadcast of two live BOV Premier League matches
per match-day.
The first two match-days will be aired on TVM2, however as from match-day 3 PBS’s new channel TVM News+ will host the games.
Malta FA President Bjorn Vassallo affirmed that the Association is truly elated to have reached this agreement with the Public Broadcasting Services, who have always been strong partners of the Malta Football Association in delivering the
football news.
Through this partnership and for the next 3 football seasons, the broadcast of 2 top domestic football matches from the BOV Premier League will be guaranteed every matchday.
“Everyone at the Malta FA is pleased that last night the League got underway with the curtain raiser between Balzan and Sliema Wanderers. We are delighted to have finally welcomed back the fans on the terraces and that the live coverage will be on the national free-to-air channel.
“Thank you, the Public Broadcasting Services, for supporting the BOV Premier League clubs and for promoting domestic football across the islands of Malta and Gozo”, Vassallo concluded.
PBS Executive Chairman Dr Mark Sammut stressed the fact that through this agreement the National Broadcaster is pleased to have attained exclusive rights providing all our televiewers with an enhanced coverage of two live matches per
match-day instead of one.
Adding that the PBS is resolute to keep further investing in sports broadcast with more airtime dedicated to sports, especially with the recently launched TVM news+, scheduled to start broadcasting in October.
“We are proud to say that the National Broadcaster entices a significant number of viewers who are interested in sports. Needless to underline the fact that we produce some of the best local football programmes, and the best coverage of
foreign football with exclusive live action.
“We have recently witnessed the airing of the UEFA 2020 European Championship which attracted thousands of viewers to our platforms between June and July”, Dr Sammut highlighted.
Minister Carmelo Abela with National Broadcaster in his portfolio stressed the fact that it’s one of the prime objectives of PBS to deliver quality programmes to our televiewers at home.
“The exclusive rights attained by PBS are part of a collaboration the National Broadcaster has undertaken with various entities to render a quality service to all televiewers.
Adding when it comes to football not just enhancing the promotion and quality of our elite football competition in Malta, but also this summer we successfully produced and transmitted all European competitions matches involving Maltese
clubs”, Carmelo Abela acknowledged.
At the end of event, Malta FA President Bjorn Vassallo presented a National Team shirt to all attendees representing PBS.
