€40 million in EU funds has been earmarked to be invested into turning Malta’s public transport fleet all-electric, Transport Minister Ian Borg announced on Monday morning.
A pilot project, involving Zarb Coaches and Malta Transport, will see solar panels installed on a number of buses with the aim of generating solar energy.
It is estimated that 1,000 litres of diesel fuel could be saved by each solar bus each year.
