Jailed Turkish mothers freed on appeal

Two Turkish mothers who were jailed last week on false passport offences were freed yesterday after a judge upheld their appeal against their sentence.

Rabia Yavuz and Muzekka Deneri had been sentenced to 6 months in prison after they admitted to using fake identification documents.

Mr. Justice Aaron Bugeja overturned the original prison sentence giving the two women a suspended sentence.

He cautioned however that not every case would be treated in such manner.
