A goal on the 69th minute by captain Andrei Agius handed Hibernians a shock win over Riga FC in the first leg of the UEFA Europa Conference League third qualifying round at the Daugavas stadions in Riga on Thursday.
Hibernians were not overawed by Riga FC who, on paper, were the more experienced team.
Degabriele and Grech went close to scoring in the first half, Doromaud rattled the crossbar in the second half before Agius got the crucial winner.
The second leg will be on August 12 and a win or a draw would be enough to send Hibernians into the next round, a first for any Maltese club.
