Investing in artistic skills: € 5 million investment in Art School

Prime Minister Robert Abela, together with the Minister for Education Justyne Caruana, inaugurated the restoration project of the School of Arts in Valletta which is part of the Mikiel Anton Vassalli College, with an investment of € 5 million from the Foundation for Tomorrow’s Schools.

A project that in the words of the Prime Minister brings together the cultural heritage and the future in the arts sector.

“An investment of five million euros for the restoration of this building in the City so that we can nurture the talent of the hundreds of people who choose the School of Arts to develop their artistic skills. Our aspiration is that those who come to this school dream that they can reach the levels of the individuals who with their creativity have contributed to the development of our identity as Maltese. “

Dr Abela reiterated the government’s commitment to the arts sector and that through these projects a clear vision is being drawn up where artists have a place to roam and exhibit their work.

“I have no doubt that this center will offer around 500 artists who take courses each year in a more suitable environment to further motivate the creative sense and the generation of innovative ideas. This school complements the excellent work done at various other institutions such as MCAST and the University of Malta, among others. It is significant that this investment was also made in a period of pandemic. And not the only one. In March, we opened the Valletta Design Cluster with an investment of € 10 million. Another place where we marry the past with the future with the aim of giving our artists more to roam, as well as exhibiting their work. ”
