We recently celebrated 4 years in the government of this legislature with the theme “Government for the people”, and what we will announce today continues to show that this is a Government for the people. Today I am announcing the start of the fulfillment of another promise in the electoral manifesto of this government: the extension of childcare services “. This was said by the Minister for Education Justyne Caruana while she was giving details about this trial extension, which will take place in six centres across Malta.
“In the 2017 Electoral Manifesto, the Government had promised the people that we would improve this service and spread it further. This is what we are announcing today “, continued Minister Caruana.
With the trial extension from next October, opening hours will be extended to their opening and closing hours, starting an hour and a half earlier, ie from 6 am instead of 7:30 am and close an hour and a half later, i.e. at 6pm instead of 4:30. The trial service also includes the opening of these six centers on Saturdays between 6 am and 1 am, when these centers do not currently open on Saturdays.
The trial centers that will open in October are: The Colors Childcare Center (Birgu), The Train Childcare Center (B’Kara), Pizzi Pizzi Kanna Childcare Center (Naxxar), The Merill Childcare Center (Pembroke), Żmeraldi Childcare Center (Żebbug) and Ix-Xemx Childcare Center (Qawra). Work is being done to identify centers in Gozo to address the needs of Gozitans, especially those working in Malta.
