GO launches a multi-million dollar project that will connect Malta with France and Egypt.
GO has announced a € 25 million investment in the third submarine cable, La Valette, which will be part of the global PEACE (Pakistan East Africa Connecting Europe) project. connectivity consisting of submarine cable with the aim of connecting countries from all over the world to each other.
At the launch of the project, Prime Minister Robert Abela said that ambitious projects such as the one we are inaugurating today are not only considered an investment in the private sector but one that strengthens investment in Malta and our economy.
“We are very supportive of this project. Improving digital connectivity and security is an integral part of our economic strategy for the next decade. When we strengthen our connectivity, we are also increasing our competitiveness. Top quality connectivity has become an important and crucial requirement for many industries, including the financial and gaming sector, ”said Dr Abela.
“In recent years we have been and still are implementing an ambitious infrastructure reform program which subsequently becomes the main reason why investors choose Malta to invest and create high quality jobs.”
GO’s management explained that this global network will be the one that connects Malta directly with France, Egypt and other countries so that GO will be the first operator in Malta to have a connection. with more countries than Italy as there are so far. The fact that this cable is located in the west of the island makes GO the first and only operator with an international connection that does not come from the east of the island.
