More than 600 young people who make use of the services provided by the Foundation for Social Welfare Services (FSWS) will now be offered more specialized services to address their challenges holistically.
These services include the Youth in Focus, the Achieve and the Adolescent Day Program, aimed at helping drug-seeking teens find support and encouragement from drug addicts. professionals.
This was announced during a press conference organized by the FSWS a few days before June 26, the day commemorating the International Day against Drugs and Substance Abuse.
Minister for Solidarity and Social Justice, Family and Children’s Rights Michael Falzon stated that we need to recognize that drugs are not the solution to life’s difficulties but it is the problem. He said it would be a big mistake to condemn these young people who are abusing drugs. Instead we should be there to help them gain the skills they need.
Minister Michael Falzon said that during this year € 2,330,000 was invested in services focused only on teenagers and young people. “We need to understand why that substance is being used, and whether it is being used to compensate for other missing things. That is why we need to raise our hands, and show a sign of courage, which even the whole society must understand “, stated Minister Michael Falzon.
