The St. Julian’s water polo club will be benefiting from funds from the International Participation scheme and the Technical Equipment scheme which are administered by SportMalta. This was announced by the Parliamentary Secretary for Sport, Recreation and Voluntary Organizations Clifton Grima during a visit to the St. Julian’s pitch.
Parliamentary Secretary Clifton Grima stressed that in recent years, through SportMalta, financial assistance to various sports sectors has increased considerably. In fact, apart from the direct investment being made in athletes with the sum of € 5 million, this year SportMalta has already allocated more than € 800,000 in assistance to sports associations.
“It is the commitment of the government that we continue to work and continue to strive to see the sports ambassadors represent us abroad and continue to raise the name of our country. The work does not stop here; Work is currently underway in the water sports sector to deliver on every election promise made in relation to water polo, ”concluded Parliamentary Secretary Grima.
The President of St. Julian’s ASC Peter Bonavia, while welcoming this help, thanked SportMalta and the Government for always supporting them. He went on to say that through these funds, they were able to invest in new equipment including new goal posts and a push bar accelerometer and were even able to go abroad to participate in training camps that were a unique experience for the young people of Gillian.
