GVERN GĦAN-NIES: Opening of Marsaxlokk Health Centre

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Chris Fearne and Parliamentary Secretary for Citizenship and Communities Alex Muscat at opening of new Health Centre in Marsaxlokk.

During the inauguration of the auberge the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Chris Fearne expressed his satisfaction that for the first time the residents of Marsaxlokk will be able to receive health services in their own locality. . “This auberge is a link in the policy chain of this government that where possible health services are provided in the community, at a level of excellence.”

Chris Fearne explained how this aubergine will offer services of a family doctor’s clinic, nursing clinic, podiatry, physiotherapy, spoken language pathology, blood sampling and nutritionist service. . The same aubergine has a mental health clinic, in order to further increase the mental health services provided outside Mount Carmel Hospital as well as a GU clinic which will be offering complementary services to those provided at Mater Dei Hospital, thus also this category of services is provided in the community.

Deputy Prime Minister Fearne remaked that during this legislature so far 12 Health Centers have been opened, new or renovated. He thanked Parliamentary Secretary Alex Muscat for the support the NDSF is offering to fund these projects, while thanking the Rector of the University of Malta for offering the land on which the auberge of Marsaxlokk.
