Thanks to a memorandum of understanding signed today, a competition will also be held to encourage space-themed ideas in the context of start-ups.
Collaboration between the Space Advisory Committee within the Ministry for Research, Innovation and Coordination of the Covid-19 Post-Strategy and the Institute of Space Sciences and Astronomy within the University of Malta will see an object sent from Malta into space with the aim of conducting research into the stratosphere of Malta and the Mediterranean.
The Minister for Research, Innovation and Coordination of the Post-Covid-19 Strategy Owen Bonnici said that “this agreement is the first step towards developing more human capital in the space sector and aims to inform the public about space-related activities that have been taking place in our country in recent years and to create new opportunities for greater participation of industrial and educational institutions. “
To this end, the Ministry will be investing € 75,000 in two main activities that will take place in the coming months.
