The Ministry for Inclusion and Quality of Life has just launched a scheme through which Maltese and Gozitan music societies will be financially supported to carry out projects that among others improve accessibility as well as increase the participation of -disabled people. This scheme is being carried out with an investment of € 100,000, with each company being able to benefit up to a maximum of € 10,000.
The scheme was announced during a press conference by the Minister for Inclusion and Quality of Life Julia Farrugia Portelli who said that musical societies have played and still play “an important role in the cultural and social development in our country, particularly when it comes to traditional festivals in our towns and villages. In addition, these societies are a key pillar in the field of volunteering where it was not for the sense of volunteering, these societies do not move. Societies that are contributing greatly to the cultural development of our country, particularly by teaching free music to children and young people and organizing our traditional festivities. It is our duty as a Government to continue to be recognized through aid such as this scheme. “
Minister Farrugia Portelli added that through this scheme “we will continue to put into practice our determination in favor of the inclusion of people with disabilities. This scheme is part of a number of initiatives we are taking as a Ministry to further enhance accessibility for people with disabilities.”
