New fleet of fire fighting appliances for Civil Protection Department

At a press conference inaugurating a new fleet of vehicles for the Civil Protection Department the Minister for the Interior, National Security and Law Enforcement Byron Camilleri announced that through an investment of more than one and a half million euros, the government is showing that it is ready to invest as much as it can in the security of the country.

These vehicles will be helping the Civil Protection to be better prepared to face everyday realities including when it comes to the challenge of a small space including alleys and narrow streets that characterize certain Maltese and Gozitan villages and towns. Minister Camilleri explained that Civil Protection is an essential part of the security we want to offer our country, so the people of this department need to work with the best tools.

“Through these five craft, each station will now be properly equipped as the Department is ready to better assist in the event of an accident at such locations. This investment is the result of a clear plan of a government that thinks about what can happen and prepares for any eventuality, “said Minister Camilleri.

Director General of Civil Protection, Emanuel Psaila, explained that these vehicles are the first of their kind in Europe and therefore they will be making a big difference in people’s lives. This investment means that the workers of this department will be doing their job in the most effective way while protecting them as well.
