Prime Minister announced phased easing of Covid-19 restrictions

Prime Minister Robert Abela has announced a gradual easing of some Covid-19 restrictions.

From Monday 12th April Primary Schools can re-open together with primary care and kinder-garden.

Scheduled operations will resume at Mater Dei Hospital.

Elderly people home visits to restart.

From Wednesday 14th April Middle Schools , Form 1 and 2 to re-open.

From Friday 16th April: Secondary schools, Form 3 to Form 5, to reopen.

All post-secondary schools to remain online

April 26. Non-essential shops and services to re-open in line with protocols.

People can meet in groups of 4 instead of 2.

Home meetings up to 4 households from 2.

Bars and clubs: No date on re-opening yet.

April 18: Mass in churches to resume in line with protocols

June 1: Tourism and weddings projected to resume.

During a press conference on Wednesday morning Prime Minister Robert Abela said the easing of restrictions was very cautious and based on scientific advice.

“During different stages of the pandemic we had to take different decisions according to the phase of the pandemic,” he said.

The Prime Minister was joined for the press conference by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Chris Fearne and Superintendent of Public Health Professor Charmaine Gauci.
