National Youth Policy 2021-2030 launched

Towards 2030 – With Youth and for Youth ’is the theme of the document listing national youth policy for the next 10 years. A national policy that will provide support to young people to participate and contribute to political, economic, social and cultural life at both local and European level. The said support will be based on eight strategic objectives.

The launch of the document took place during a press conference addressed by the Minister for Inclusion and Quality of Life Julia Farrugia Portelli and the Parliamentary Secretary for Sport, Recreation and Voluntary Organizations Clifton Grima. The conference was also addressed by the National Officer of the National Youth Council Gianluca Vella while the presentation of the document was made by the Chief Executive of the Youth Agency Miriam Teuma. She explained that this document is the fruit of a whole work that has seen a substantial number of stakeholders come together in a public consultation, including the National Youth Council, the Labor Party, the Nationalist Party, CRPD, NCPE, the Directorate of Human Rights, 100 Ideas and more than 40 other interventions by groups or individual youth.

Minister Farrugia Portelli described young people as the link of today with yesterday and tomorrow, “Therefore for us young people are the present and the future. This reflects the great confidence we have in young people in a world where challenges are ongoing, challenges that not only do we not give up because we turn them into opportunities. We will support and encourage our young people and adolescents to reach their potential and aspirations. We will be addressing their needs and what they may consider barriers to their aspirations. With the launch of this national youth policy we are implementing another measure announced in the budget for this year. But not only that. We are building confidence in our young people after at the beginning of this legislature we expressed a great sense of trust in them by voting at the age of 16. “
