More than 500 residential streets have been built so far, as part of a €700 million national investment. This was announced by Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Ian Borg during a visit at Forġa Street, Naxxar.
Minister Ian Borg said, “This is a government for the people, and which delivers its promises. These 500 residential streets continue to show the holistic vision of this government, a government in favour of a better environment and in favour of the best possible security for thousands of Maltese and Gozitan families. We have not reached our goal, yet we are working hard to make sure that every corner in our country has the infrastructure it deserves.”
Minister Ian Borg went on to thank all the workers of Infrastructure Malta for their continuous work.
Forġa Street is one of the roads that the agency is rebuilding this month. A large section of this half-kilometre street along the border between Naxxar and Iklin had never been formed and built before.
In recent months, Infrastructure Malta has completed the first phase of the construction of this road, where works have been carried out on its structure, new footpaths have been built, and more than 800 meters of telecommunication networks have been laid. Workers also built a new rainwater system, as well as a 200-meter pipeline.
The second phase is expected to be completed in the coming months and the total investment is expected to be €1 million.
Infrastructure Malta is rebuilding another 13 residential roads in the Tas-Sgħajtar area in Naxxar during the next months. Works in three of these streets, Korfu Street, il-Libja Street and il-Marokk Street started this week. The other ten roads are Ċili Street, Ċipru Street, Ġibilta Street, Il-Brażil Street, Il-Ġermanja Street, Il-Mitħna Street, It-Tuffieħ Street, L-Arġentina Street, L-Ingilterra Street and Spanja Street.
