A 24-year-old man from Gambia was arrested by the Police just moments after he robbed a woman in Pieta.
According to police, the victim, a 27-year-old Columbian woman, was walking along Triq Telgħet Gwardamanġa on Thursday night when a man approached her and put a knife to her neck and demanded money.
The suspect made off with her mobile phone, the police said.
Members of the Rapid Intervention Unit and the Major Crimes Unit began a search and, after around 20 minutes spotted a man who fitted the description of the suspected robber.
He was arrested and was found to be carrying the stolen phone. He is being held at the police lock-up in Floriana.
