Air Malta is losing €170,000 daily and will not survive without state aid.
Speaking on ONE tv on Sunday morning Finance Minister Clyde Caruana confirmed that the airline was in dire financial straits and need an injection of funds if it was to survive.
He said a group of foreign experts had been given the task of helping the government in presenting the European Commission a technical report for its bid to obtain the green light to advance state aid to Air Malta.
That report, said Minister Caruana, would be “honest and credible”.
Brussels should have no reason to refuse a cash injection for Air Malta, he said. Without the green light from Brussels, Air Malta will not be able to survive he warned.
