Farsons Foundation, Farrugia Investments and Multigas Limited have recently presented the second instalment
of their €115K donation to The Malta Hospice Movement.
The payment was presented by Mr Louis A. Farrugia, Chairman of the Farsons Group, to Ms Bernadette Bonnici Kind, Chairperson of Hospice Malta, in the presence of Mr Kenneth Delia, Chief Executive Officer of Hospice Malta, Ms Antoinette Caruana, Farsons Group Company Secretary and Ms Melinda Farrugia, HR Manager at Multigas.
This donation will be put towards the establishment of St Michael Hospice, the first state-of-the-art complex in
Malta dedicated entirely to providing comprehensive palliative care. St Michael Hospice in Santa Venera, formerly known as Adelaide Cini Institute, will become the main premises for Hospice Malta and is expected to help further enhance the already established community services.
The complex will house an in-patient care unit, complementing all the other services for a more holistic approach. The present-day therapy services will be expanded and a number of out-patient clinics will also be introduced. St Michael Hospice will also enhance its educational wing which will open many opportunities to exchange expertise with other hospices across Europe
and beyond. Works are planned to be completed by end 2022.
Hospice Malta is a voluntary organisation providing and promoting palliative care to persons suffering from cancer, motor-neuron disease, end-of-life cardiac, respiratory, renal and liver disease. Offering its services free of charge to patients in Malta and Gozo, the Hospice Malta’s contribution is well-recognised in the Maltese society. Since its foundation in 1989, many patients and their families, experiencing very challenging times, have
benefited from the services of this voluntary organisation.
The association between Hospice Malta and Farsons goes back several years. “The work that the Hospice does
is of national importance, now made even more complex and challenging due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Through this donation, we are supporting Hospice Malta to continue its priceless work for the benefit of Maltese
society,” said Mr Louis A Farrugia.
Ms Bonnici Kind thanked Mr Farrugia and Farsons Foundation for their generous support towards the St Michael
Hospice Project, “a national project which will allow for the further expansion of Hospice services.to all the families who need Hospice support.” She also made an appeal to other organisations and to the general public to support this project through a telethon which Hospice is organising on the 14th February.
