PM presented with ‘Minimum Essential Budget For A Decent Living 2020’ prepared by Caritas

The Prime Minister Robert Abela was presented with the document ‘Minimum Essential Budget For A Decent Living 2020’ prepared by Caritas Malta during a meeting in the Auberge de Castille.

This four-year study includes a number of recommendations on the essential minimum income for an elderly couple, a family with two children and a single parent with two children in order to live a decent life.

Caritas Director Anthony Gatt thanked the Prime Minister for always listening to what Caritas has drawn up in its documents and reports. Mr Gatt said that from year to year there is a great anticipation for this report which is reflecting the challenges we are living in today. He said Caritas must offer its part through this study in order to be an instrumental tool for policy makers in the field of social services with the aim of continuing to eradicate poverty in our country.

In response to the document, Prime Minister Robert Abela said that this government is committed to staying close to organizations such as Caritas and acting on the ideas they present. “Currently, Caritas is present day and night with people who are going through various difficulties in society. Our role as a government is to feel the pulse of these individuals with the aim of improving the quality of life of our families by continuing to address poverty in our country, “said Dr Abela.
