The Intelligent Planning Consultative Forum (IPCF) has entered its second phase, as it will be focusing on three key areas this year: the SPED review, a new aesthetics policy for our buildings, and the 2-Speed Application Process—proposals which would incentivise developers and contractors to opt for greener infrastructure, alternative energy, and environmental sustainability.
Minister for the Environment, Climate Change, and Planning Aaron Farrugia was addressing this meeting when he said that this second phase comes after the first phase last year resulted in the compilation of the Green Paper on Greening Buildings in Malta: Initiatives for Green Walls and Roofs for Residential, Commercial, and Industrial Buildings (attached).
“This Forum brings together all stakeholders, from the Chamber of Architects (KTP) to the Malta Developers Association (MDA), from environmental NGOs to the Malta Chamber of Planners (KMAP), from the Planning Authority (PA) to the Environment and Resources Authority (ERA), who all together have a direct interest in the sector, and the will and with whom we can plan and enact the necessary change for the Malta of tomorrow,” the Minister said.
The Forum was launched by Minister Farrugia last year in order to bring together key stakeholders within the areas of development, planning, and environment. The ultimate aim is to identify proposals for key areas that require immediate, medium, and long-term actions with respect to the concept of intelligent planning in Malta.
