Police from the International Relations Section this morning arrested a 60-year-old Hungarian man, sought by the Hungarian authorities to serve a 4 year prison sentence in connection with aggravated theft.
The man had fled the Hungarian authorities before serving his sentence and it became known that he had travelled to Malta.
After weeks of investigations, the Maltese Police, under a warrant issued a European Arrest Warrant by the Hungarian Authorities, arrested the man in the Msida area.
He is expected to be brought to court tomorrow to begin extradition proceedings.
