The President of Malta, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, has appointed Professor Edward Scicluna as Governor of the Central Bank of Malta for a period of five years with effect from 1 January 2021.
Professor Scicluna served as Minister of Finance and Financial Services between 2013 and November 2020.
In 2009, he was elected to the European Parliament before being elected to the Parliament of Malta where he served as Minister of Finance from 2013 until November 2020.
