Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Ian Borg visited the recreational area of Għar Barka Garden in Rabat where with an investment of almost €300,000, regeneration work is being carried out and which has now reached its final stage.
Minister Ian Borg said, “Once again we are constantly working to give these recreational spaces to the community in the best possible condition and quality. This is because we believe in a holistic work ethic and we believe that our communities deserve to benefit from this as much as possible. This undoubtedly reflects the vision of this Government which ensures that work for our communities is at the top of its priorities. We are committed to maintain this commitment to work for a better quality of life for the people and look forward to another year of more work and prosperity for our communities.”
The embellishing works of this garden include three different levels which are reached by stairs and ramps and surrounded by trees and plants which have been planted by Infrastructure Malta. A total of 160 rosemary plants, 5 olive trees and 5 spruce trees were planted.
In addition, the work is being carried out in a way that also meets the guidelines for people with disabilities. For children of all ages, play equipment such as swings and see saws have been installed in the upper and lower levels.
The garden will also be upgraded with a new system of efficient LED lighting as well as a programmed watering system. A canopy with benches will be installed in the middle level and about 500 square meters of pavement will be laid. Bins were installed in all levels and to complete the final stage of the project, the benches, and handrails remain to be fitted.
