Prime Minister Robert Abela commissioned Heritage Malta to make a monument in honor of Professor Oliver Friggieri, a giant of Maltese literature and national identity.
Dr Abela announced that next week Heritage Malta will be issuing a call for proposals to enable artists to take part in this initiative to hold this memorial.
“His name will be remembered and I feel that this memorial will give some of the thanks that is deserved to this supreme Maltese”, said the Prime Minister.
On behalf of the Government and the Maltese and Gozitan people, Prime Minister Abela reiterated his gratitude to Prof. Oliver Friggieri for his invaluable contribution to the nation, in particular in the development of the Maltese language and literature.
