Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Chris Fearne has been selected to form part of an international group of experts to provide advice and guidance to leading health institutions around the world, including the World Health Organization, World Organization for Animal Health, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
He has been appointed a member of the One Health Global Leaders Group, a specialized group that will be focusing on Antimicrobial Resistance and how countries around the world are caring for populations against these microbes that can lead to the spread of diseases resistant to existing drugs.
This international group is made up of a small number of prime ministers, ministers, and health professionals. In fact, Chris Fearne is one of 26 people appointed from around the world.
On this new role, Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne stated that he is honored that Malta will have a voice in this prestigious group, which will be protecting the health of populations around the world and influencing the global health policy. He thanked the international scientific community for the trust they are showing in him.
