Malta were held to a 1-1 draw by the Faroe Islands in their last Group D1 tie in the UEFA Nations League.
Malta needed to win to qualify for the next round and that looked on the cards when Matthew Guillaumier fired through a crowded penalty box to put Malta 1-0 up.
The Faroe Islands grabbed the precious goal they needed with 20 minutes remaining, Solvi Vatnhamar slotting home from close range.
1-1 it finished. Not the result Malta wanted but their performances throughout the competition should give plenty of encouragement for the future.
