The project of new swings in Ħal Għaxaq, located in front of the local primary school, was inaugurated today.
This is one of the largest infrastructure projects carried out in recent years in Ħal Għaxaq.
The Minister for Energy and Water Management Michael Farrugia congratulated the company Enemed which helped financially the local council to carry out this project, which in total saw an investment of around € 300,000.
The project, which was inaugurated today, is part of a larger playground project located in St. Roch’s Square and includes public conveniences, a tool room for workers and a large water tank. The project will also be equipped with security cameras.
Minister Farrugia said that this is a government that has invested heavily in public spaces.
After the previous swings had deteriorated over time, as they had been built in 1978, the need for residents to have something in the locality itself had long been felt.
The minister said that in today’s times the quality of life of the residents is very important and therefore such projects should be given priority.
“The significance for us is not just to have a recreational area for children. We want to see that the next generations benefit from this project, which are also the future of our country “, said the minister.
The Mayor of Għaxaq, Darren Abela said that the swings are a dream of the residents of Ghaxaq which has become a reality thanks to the work of the local council and the Ministry for Energy and Water Management. .
Enemed Chairman Kevin Chircop said that Enemed actively contributes to the community and this is one of the first projects that are part-financed to make a difference.
