Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Evarist Bartolo held a virtual meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of Namibia, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwa.
Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwa reaffirmed her government’s appreciation for Malta’s recent donation of food supplies to Namibia which were very warmly received by the people of Namibia.
The ministers recalled the close political and educational links between the two countries, since the Republic of Namibia’s independence in 1992. In this context, they underlined the excellent prospects for trade between Malta and Namibia, noting that over 70 Maltese companies participated in an online webinar entitled ‘Doing Business with Namibia’ co-ordinated by Trade Malta last July.
A number of Maltese companies have subsequently expressed interest in exploring opportunities for trade and investment in Namibia particularly in the blue economy and in the educational sector.
Both ministers expressed commitment to future discussions to ensure that relations between the two countries continue to flourish in the interest of enhanced trade and development.
Minister Bartolo was joined at this meeting by Malta’s Permanent Representative to the African Union Ronald Micallef.
