Prime Minister Robert Abela attended one of a series of consultation meetings being held by the Ministry of Interior, National Security and Law Enforcement with local councils with a view to direct on the needs of residents in relation to security aspects. Today’s meeting was attended by 10 representatives of local councils with common challenges.
Prime Minister Robert Abela spoke about how the Government will not escape the challenges that exist in a number of localities in our country and that is why he chose to be among the mayors to take note of what the government should be aware of it.
Dr Abela said that the attitude should always be one where everyone, whoever he or she is, observes the laws of our country and therefore the commitment that is being made to increase the enforcement of public order in cities and our villages.
Minister Byron Camilleri stressed that for the Ministry he leads, security also means the reassurance that residents must have and the enforcement of laws with the aim of bringing order and discipline in society. He explained that it is for this purpose that direct contact must be maintained with the representatives of the localities.
In fact, the highest officers of the Police Force and the Local Enforcement Agency, LESA, were invited to the same meeting.
“We have started and will continue to work to have a greater presence of police and other enforcement officers in the localities. But, today I am here to hear from you, to work together to set the priorities we want to work on at this level for the future, ”was the message of Minister Camilleri in this meeting during which they were discussed various ideas.
