‘Baked Alaska’ is a co-production between Malta and Canada which is currently being shot in Valletta and St Julian’s.
This production has a budget of € 2.3 million, with € 1.4 million being spent in Malta. The story of this production is about an accountant from Alaska, with a love for cooking, where we see him compete in a big cooking competition and even find his love during this holiday.
The Minister for Tourism and Consumer Protection Clayton Bartolo and the Film Commissioner Johann Grech visited part of the production crew at a hotel in Valletta during the shooting of this film where they met with the producer, director and main actors of the film.
Minister Clayton Bartolo expressed satisfaction that once again Malta is being used to attract international productions. He explained how important the film sector is to our country and how it has remained resilient, with many working in this sector. The minister also said that he is looking forward to further strengthen this industry and continue to see more productions being attracted the country.
Film Commissioner Johann Grech said that he is proud that despite the difficult times around the world, Malta continues to attract international productions. This production involves around 80 Maltese crew members, who are working hard on this production and together with the Film Commission continue to raise Malta’s name.
“I am proud that Malta continues to attract productions of different genres from different countries around the world, this time we are seeing co-production between Malta and Canada. Once again, the local crew continues to work from one production to another and raises the level of quality that our country offers “, concluded Johann Grech.
