The Minister for Energy and Water Management Michael Farrugia announced that 45 sports clubs will be benefiting from cheaper energy bills thanks to a number of schemes administered by the Energy and Water Agency.
He was speaking together with the Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Sport and Volunteering Clifton Grima, when he visited the Mosta football stadium, which is one of the clubs that has benefited from one of these schemes, where the entire stadium lighting system was changed to a less electrically powered LED one.
Minister Farrugia praised all the sports associations that have invested in equipment to reduce energy use and said that this is a measure of the government’s electoral program which is now another complete measure. The Energy and Water Agency promotes specific schemes such as investments related to energy improvements in enterprises, Energy Audit schemes for small and medium-sized industries, and even manages this scheme for sports organizations. .
Parliamentary Secretary Clifton Grima stressed that through this project, these sports associations will have the opportunity to save from their electricity bill and at the same time be able to invest more in the club and in the nurseries.
The parliamentary secretary went on to say that the government, together with the Malta Football Association, is embarking on a project to renovate the football pitches of various sports clubs.
