St. Michael Hospice inaugurated– The first facility for palliative care thanks to investment from the NDSF and European funds.
Prime Minister Robert Abela says that the non-governmental organizations will continue to find a shoulder from the government to carry out projects of benefit to society. The first complex for palliative care in our country of Hospice Malta was inaugurated. The St Michael’s Hospice complex was completed thanks to an investment of around €9 million from the National and Social Development Fund, the NDSF and European funds.
This investment in the project will lead to the approximately 1,500 patients and families that Hospice Malta works with being given better palliative care and with more appropriate dignity in this complex which will offer a number of services, including psychotherapists.
In this complex, training will also be given to professionals in the field of palliative care.
Prime Minister Robert Abela defined the work of Hospice Malta as an important one that resonates with so many families. He said that the strong economic situation of our country must continue to be of benefit to social projects such as that of Hospice which the government strongly supported through the NDSF and the funds allocated by European funds. “The Malta that I believe in is a Malta that respects and shows love. Malta where every family is important and is a shoulder in the face of challenging moments. In the moment of need I assure those families, that they will continue to find a government behind them and with them to give help,” stressed Prime Minister Robert Abela.
