Agreement signed between Lands Authority and the Cleaning and Maintenance Division for the protection of public buildings

An agreement was signed between the Lands Authority and the Cleaning and Maintenance Division which will lead to a new collaboration between two entities to strengthen cleaning services in government sites and buildings.

This was announced by the Minister for Lands and the Implementation of the Electoral Program Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi and the Parliamentary Secretary for Public Cleanliness Glenn Bedingfield while they presided over the signing of this agreement.

Among other things, the agreement provides for the Cleaning and Maintenance Division to take care of the sites or buildings that are indicated to it by the Land Authority to clean the site, collect waste that has been illegally dumped and remove any other type of waste that has accumulated in these buildings or sites.

Minister Zrinzo Azzopardi stated, “Through this collaboration we will see that we have a professional and coordinated operation between the two entities in order to ensure a quality service for the good of the people. This is not just a collaboration, but a commitment to protect and develop our public spaces for use by today’s communities and at the same time protect them for future generations.”

Parliamentary Secretary for Public Cleanliness Glenn Bedingfield, emphasized the importance of clean and properly maintained public buildings. “As I have always repeated, the highest quality of public cleanliness means a better quality of life. This agreement confirms the Government’s commitment to continue to strengthen cleanliness and maintenance throughout the country.”

“It is an initiative that reflects the will to address the needs of our society by ensuring a clean and safe environment, both for those who use these buildings and for the community in general. This agreement is another step in the direction of investing in a country where we give everyone the opportunity to live in an environment that values ​​their health and well-being,” concluded Bedingfield.

During the past weeks, work has already begun to clean and remove bulky waste from a building that is part of a fortification. In this operation, all precautionary measures were taken so that the workers of this division could work safely.

The agreement between the two entities was signed by the Chief Executive Officer of the Lands Authority, Robert Vella, and by the Director General of the Cleaning and Maintenance Division, Ramon Deguara.
