The General Workers’ Union strongly condemns any actions against PBS workers as in the case that arose this week concerning the advertising related to the Budget on the PBS station, the Nationalist Party has requested the Court to take necessary action to address what they allege is an abuse of process.
The Nationalist Party claims that PBS unlawfully broadcast political advertising on the eve of the budget. They approached the Court seeking a remedy. Although the Court granted the Nationalist Party’s request to stop the broadcast of this advertisement, PBS allegedly continued to air it, prompting the Nationalist Party to urge the Court to enforce its ruling.
“We condemn any actions against workers who are simply performing their duties. In this case, it appears that some workers may even face legal action. As a trade union, the General Workers’ Union has already offered to provide support, including legal assistance, should any action be taken against any of our member workers,” stated Riccarda Darmanin, Secretary of the Professionals, Finances, and Services Section.
