An investment of €12.5 million by Magro Brothers that will double their production and make them one of the top five European companies in the sector

The Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri together with the Minister for Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects Silvio Schembri visited the company Magro Brothers in Xewkija which announced an investment of €12.5 million. This investment spread over four years (2024-2028) and divided into three phases will lead Magro Brothers to double their production of table sauces which are currently exported to around 22 European countries.

During the last years, the company experienced a substantial growth in its exports of table sauces and during 2024 it reached the full production capacity. This new investment will also create the need for 15 specialized technicians and as a multiplier effect the need for 28 full-time workers will be created. In addition, energy consumption will decrease and through this process the consumer will also be able to recycle the bottles which will be 100% recyclable.

The Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri stated that it is always gratifying for him whenever he visits this company that continuously invests to strengthen its operation, invest in its workers and expand and reach new investment niches not only in our country but also abroad. He went on to say that “this investment which will consist of the most recent technology in the world when it comes to the production of table sauces will generate more work for Gozo and the Gozo people. It is what we as Government want to see, companies that continue to grow and create jobs in our country.”

The Minister for Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects Silvio Schembri said this family is a clear example that even for a small country like ours, there are great possibilities. This Government has succeeded in creating an environment in our country, of an eco-system where thanks to the work of our entities, such as Malta Enterprise and INDIS with the private sector, together we are continuing to welcome new goals. “With this project Magro Brothers will not only be continuing to increase their operation, but they are also following the principles that we are embracing as a Government, those of sustainability and they are also investing to work with practices that protect environment.”

Chris Magro, Chief Executive of Magro Brothers, said that “through this investment, the company can double the production of table sauces aimed more at the international market. This means that the company will be of the same size and level as the five best European companies in this sector.”

The Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri ended by thanking Magro Brothers for their work in the sector and wishing them every success for this new investment they will enter into.
