A week dedicated to mental health awareness

During the week dedicated to mental health awareness, the Ministry for Health and Active Aging organized a conference with the theme “Mental Health – Health-Forward”. The theme chosen for this conference links to the vision that the ministry together with the professionals have for this sector.

Among the themes discussed was the protection of mental health at the workplace, the importance of the care service provided and addressing the mental health of the younger generation.

The Minister for Health and Active Aging Jo Etienne Abela said how the subject of mental health is a sensitive one both in the health sector but also in society. He said that the main objective of this conference is for the professionals to talk together and discuss their ideas on this subject, so that they are integrated into the vision that the Government has for mental health.

He reiterated that mental health can affect everyone and therefore it is important to hold these kinds of discussions so that together they can continue to work and create more awareness about the subject.

“Even in this sector, as a government we are listening, discussing and working hand in hand with the professionals for the benefit of the citizens. Through this discussion I look forward to the suggestions of the professionals, so that together we continue to reform and move this very important subject forward and at the same time we continue to reduce the stigma that exists,” concluded Minister Abela.
