Prime Minister Robert Abela inaugurated the Concert Zone in the Malta National Park in Ta’ Qali. “We promised open spaces and we are giving open spaces,” he claimed at the beginning of his address in the area that was a concrete factory and an abandoned place that ended up being used for illegal dumping of construction waste.
Instead today there is a recreational park that is expected to welcome large events and an open green space for families. It was in this context that the Prime Minister stressed, “We could have come here and inaugurate a factory but while investment in economic sectors is important and must be in the right place, we also want to invest in projects such as these that give a better life to families.”
The Prime Minister said that this project, part of a hill in the biggest green regeneration that is being done in Ta’ Qali, is an example of projects that we are seeing in all the work that the Government is carrying out around the – the whole country. Dr. Abela said that with this latest project with an investment of €16 million, the government has given another place for families. He claimed that the aspect of better quality of life is not only investment in economic sectors but also with investment of high level projects like the one in Ta’ Qali, which strengthen families.
The Prime Minister also noted how the Concert Zone will give another space to the artists and the beautiful talent that Malta has together with the potential that Malta will continue to attract beautiful events.
Before the inauguration, the Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works Chris Bonett explained how this place symbolizes the unceasing commitment of the Government in its work for pro-active change that leads to the improvement of the way we live and work. “This project embodies our dedication to sustainable development while ensuring that our collective future is built on the principles of innovation, responsibility and inclusiveness. This project is a testimony of a Government truly dedicated to the progress and improvement of society,” said Minister Bonett.
The Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works Omar Farrugia said, “I look forward to the Maltese and Gowis visiting this beauty of a place. I believe that it will not only be the place where Maltese and Gozitan children, young people, families and the elderly come to relax, but also a place where you can make beautiful memories that we will carry throughout our lives in the largest open space that has accomplished this the Government in our country.”
The Head of the Section of the National Park of Malta in Ta’ Qali Jason Micallef explained how the Concert Area and a new recreational park for families adds to the range of new green spaces in the National Park of Malta in Ta’ Qali.
