Police detain 36 people living in Malta without permits

Joint work between the Police and Detention Services Officers, which followed days of survey, led to 36 people being detained on Saturday morning because they were living in Malta illegally.
35 men were of Syrian nationality and a person was from Gambia. The inspections were focused in Hamrun, Santa Venera and Msida and are part of a series of inspections with the aim of ensuring that people living in Malta have the valid documents and the necessary permits.
These persons are now being held in the detention center where they be held until they are returned to the country they came from.
